Can I “zero out” all of the parameter values in the app to start over?

No. The Rayons app uses a minimum and maximum range of values for all of the parameters. For example, the ERD of a rim is never going to “zero”, it’s always going to be a positive number. The pop-up slider controls allow you to quickly change the values within the range, this is much faster than having to type a value into a text field.

Does the app work for hubs with disc brakes?

Yes, in Settings turn off Synchronize flange offsets. This will allow you to set each flange offset independently. For rear hubs, this setting is always on.

Does the app work for older style hubs with freewheels?

Yes, as long as your hub dimensions fall within the ranges supported in the app. The drawings in the app are just general representations of components.

How do I fine-tune a measurement down to 0.1 mm?

Just tap on the number shown between dimension arrows. This will show a stepper control that will allow 0.1 mm increments.

Does the app work for hubs with different flange diameters on each side?

Yes, in Settings turn off Synchronize flange diameters. This will allow you to set each flange diameter independently.

Why doesn’t the app refer to Drive-side and Non-drive-side?

There are a number of reasons. While Drive-side terminology may be common in the industry it is often confusing to people new to bicycles and wheel building. For example, does a front wheel really have a Drive-side? Then there is the use of acronyms for these references - DS and NDS or is it SD and NSD? Acronyms are a problem for those of us that are somewhat dyslexic. Then what about how these references translate into languages other than English?

Most people learn left and right from a very early age. You are sitting on the bike, there is a right side and there is a left side. Left and right translate nicely into other languages. So left and right is what we use consistently throughout the app.
